Cabin Fever 2011

Like most of the U.S. we are getting our fair share of winter weather here in Oklahoma City.  It's beautiful as long as you don't have to get out and drive around. (I'm a nervous nelly on snow or ice and a real menace to society while on the roads).  Luckily I have this blog to keep me busy so expect a few back to back posts.  Right now I can't say what they'll be so stay tuned.  If my cabin fever goes full swing theres no telling what film will end up on the receiving end of my snark.

Awww! How cute that June Allyson and Dick Powell get a fancy ski vacation.  I'm not sure what they are staring at, perhaps they spotted Joan Blondell in a bikini.

No this isn't me in a cutesy snow outfit with an adorable pooch.  It's just Betty Grable.  I may not have the dog or anyone to throw snow balls at but at least my bra's under control! Ha

Muriel Angelus letting me know its possible to have a perfect winter day.  Perhaps she should know the snow isn't even REAL! And who finds the time to curl their bangs before a day of skiing.

Marilyn Monroe looking very guilty after burying her diary.  Hopefully someone told her the snow will eventually melt.

Tala Birell looks so cute with her ginormous sled but just wait until she has to carry that heavy thing back up the hill!  That is if she makes it back up, the thing doesn't look very safe.

Ingrid Bergman having a good laugh at all of us! She always was such a snob

The view of the field behind my house this morning where I hit golf balls.  Not so inviting at the moment unless you're a deer.

I'm not even making the deer part up! Heres the same field a few weeks ago with the deer coming up to me to eat apples and corn tortillas.

Another view here looking out towards the nature park and the snow is just getting started

Wherever you are today please stay safe and warm but enjoy the beautiful winter mix even if you aren't decked out like Betty Grable.  (Okay, if you do look as good as Grable right now you're no friend of mine). Ha Ha  And if you want to share your winter photos please send away to me at silentscreenfan@gmail.com and I'll add them to the post.

  1. Great post to get me in the mood for the upcoming ski trip. The Monroe snark had me laughing. :)

  2. That sounds like great fun Java! Just make sure you are wearing the proper brazier under your ski sweater and have lots of fun for the rest of us.

  3. Love the Monroe photo, I'd never seen that one before.

Our rain's starting and the temp is supposed to drop later with a lot more precip (possibly frozen) tonight. Yay!

    Your snow photos are lovely.

  4. Claros,
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Theres so much snow everywhere I felt I had to embrace it.

I hate that you are getting ice down there. Keeping fingers crossed that we don't have that situation here with the temps hovering in the low teens.

  5. Some of your comments were really funny. It's easy to get stir-crazy when you're snowbound. I'm starting to feel it. LOL.

  6. Audrey,
If I didn't have an Elliptical I would really lose it being stuck inside with no way to get any exercise.
I hope you're managing okay wherever you are.

  7. Page, exercise is the last thing I think of when I'm snow-bound! I've been reading like crazy and DVR'ing movies. Not as good for me as an Elliptical, but then I rarely do anything that's good for me. When everybody else was crowding the stores before the ice storm last week, they were all buying bread and milk. My essentials were coffee and cigarettes and Slim-Fast (or, as I like to call it, Slim-Slow, but then maybe that's because I had some with potato chips the other day) LOL!

  8. Becky,
    You nut! : )
I should have learned by now not to have a drink in my hand when reading your comments.

I'll ship my pet deer up there so you can chase it around. You'll have to add apples to your grocery list though. He's not a smoker as far as I can tell.

  9. You always make me laugh with your comments. I'm not sure which is funnier ... the ginormous sled or Marilyn burying her diary. And what a lovely backyard, complete with woodland animals. Maybe you can photoshop the deer and Ingrid together rolling around in the snow!
