Now that we're into summer and everyone is enjoying outdoor activities, I thought it would be fun to see what our favorite classic stars were up to when not churning out movies.
Jane Russell takes her curves to the beach.
Janet Leigh puts in some time on the high seas.
Jane Greer, Martha Hyer and friends soak up some rays. (Don't forget your sunscreen, ladies!)
Jean Parker finds a nice spot on the beach for a day of relaxation and posing. (We see you, Jean!)
Jinx Falkenberg puts in some exercise time in heels and an insanely sexy workout outfit.
Rita Hayworth, blonde perfection as she enjoys a day at the beach.
Hey, ladies, it's William Holden.
Isabel Jewell is a stunner on the beach.
Joan Leslie gets ready to go for a swim in her backyard pool.
Louis Jourdan gets ready for a game of tennis. (Nice tennis outfit!)
Marilyn Monroe glams it up at the beach. (There is no way any woman would show up on the beach with her there looking like that. Truly beautiful!)
I hope you're all enjoying your summer and looking just as glamorous while out there having fun.
See ya soon and thanks for all of your kind words and support for my fellow Oklahomans!

As I read it, it's four o'clock in the afternoon, but it looks like midnight because of the rain. I chill while all the stars are having fun in the sun, and you know what? These pi8ctures really make me feel warmer! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'll read all the posts I've missed now!
Kisses!
Hi, Dollface!
DeleteI do hope you're seeing warmer weather. We've had enough rain and tornadoes to last a lifetime here but it's finally feeling like summer with the sun.
Thanks so much for your continued support.
Hugs!

Jinx Falkenburg. Yowza! It is a shame her films from the 1940's are rarely shown these days. Tex McCrary was a lucky man.
ReplyDeleteHi there, Hal!
DeleteJinx was a stunner and I'm glad I'm providing some fun pics for the boys! *wink
Good to see ya and please come back often.

These pictures are a nice start to summer, especially since its been so overcast, gray and rainy so far.
ReplyDeleteSending nothing but good thoughts, prayers and wishes to the folks in Oklahoma.
Thanks, Kev! You're such a kind and good guy. : )
DeleteWe're digging out from this last round of tornadoes. Unreal! But we're looking forward and enjoying this nicer weather. Hoping you're getting some sun your way as well.

I like pretty girls and fashion as much as the next guy, but I can't thank you enough for throwing Bill Holden and Louis Jourdan in there!
ReplyDeleteCW,
DeleteI made you and Lady Eve happy with the boys so my work is done here! ha ha
I'll be sure to add a couple to my Summer Posts going forward for you ladies.
I hope you're enjoying your summer so far.
See ya soon over at your place!

Page, The ladies look great, but I like looking at the guys, too. It's nice to see Louis Jourdan, who doesn't get a lot of attention in the classic movie blogosphere, (literally) have his moment in the sun.
ReplyDeleteLE,
DeleteI'm glad you and CW enjoyed the boys. I agree that Louis isn't spoken about often but he was a fine looking man and quite talented.
I do plan to write a bio on him one day. (Boy, there needs to be 36 hrs in a day but even then I fear I would be so behind!)
Thanks for stopping by! Now that things have settled down here I need to visit your place and so many others.

I do like retro swim & summer wear. So much more forgiving and SO much more stylish than today's skimpy attire.
ReplyDeleteBT,
DeleteI so agree! The suits today that look like bandaids is just vulgar to me. I appreciate the days when ladies left something to the imagination. These women were beautiful while fully covered.

I'm with your previous commenter. These women look stunning in this swimwear apparel. I would LOVE to go back to these styles!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the people in Oklahoma continue to hang in there. You all have had your share of bad circumstances this year...
SS,
DeleteThanks for your kind words regarding everyone here in OK. Last Fridays tornado was a real kick in the gut.
As far as everyone in family and friends. No lives lost except for a cousins dogs who died in their home during the 1st tornado in Moore. My mothers sister and husband lost their home in the first one near Shawnee. This second left some damage to an aunts home in Mustang where she's still without power. A close friend lost the roof off of one of his businesses last Friday as well. Things are a mess with a lot of rebuilding here. Losing your mementos has to be very difficult without losing your pets.
Considering the data on the last tornado, which showed it was over 2.6 miles wide and another E-5. I would have to say that OKC is very lucky that it wasn't worse.
Today is the first day we'll have only sun but I won't be putting on a bathing suit today. Well, if I do it will look more like one Jane is sporting if I go for a swim. ha ha
Have a great weekend!

Jane Russell, pic was my favorite.. I think, back in those days you did not have to worry too much about sun protection.. Bring on the baby oil!!
ReplyDeleteI hope things are getting back to normal for you guys..
Hey Dawn!
DeleteSince you like your memorabilia and gorgeous photos of our stars I'll tell you a funny story. (Well, it's funny now!) When my home was flooded a yr ago, I had so much water damage to photos and autographs that I immediately put everything that wasn't hanging on walls into giant waterproof, sealed bins.
Last Friday night when the 2nd large tornado bared down, I had my jewelry, cash, documents all secure or in my purse but I went and got all of these giant tubs of memorabilia and put them in the bathroom where I had planned to ride things out. If they got taken, by gosh I was going to do my best to make sure they were in the safest room in the house this time. lol
I was telling my mom about it the next day and she said "Why don't you keep that stuff in your safe?" I don't think she understands how much there is and I would need a safe, only found in banks. ha ha
I thought you would get a kick out of that.
Have a great weekend.

Page, thank you deeply for your lovely comments on my Audie Murphy post. Truly, your words made my day. I commented back to you, so if you don't subscribe to comments, please be sure to go back and read what I wrote. You assured me that I had honored a man I desperately wanted to honor, despite the fact that I had begun to feel as though I had failed.
ReplyDeleteI am so ready for the beach...unfortunately, I now live in a landlocked state and won't be near the ocean until my trip home (to Florida) in November.
As a William Holden lover, I enjoyed the surprise photo of him. What a beautiful man he was! Sigh!!
Wishing you a wonderful day,
Patti
