Happy Earth Day!

For Earth Day, I've decided to share a lot of the amazing scene stills from the documentary, "Home" 2009. A visually stunning film, narrated by Glenn Close. It's also packed with information, both in caption and narration on this beautiful planet and how it's being pillaged and taken for granted.

I hope you enjoy these screen grabs and see the film. I know there are a lot but I wanted you to read as much information as you can within the photos, on our planet and what's happening to it.  I watched this documentary four times and it was so moving while sobering. (The 3rd time I watched it, I felt compelled to screen grab it, not knowing if I would ever use the photos for a post. Then Earth Day came around so I thought today would be the perfect time to share them.)

You can find out what you can do on your own in your day to day life to save the environment by going  HERE.  Even the littlest things can help.

I hope reading these captions and seeing these photos of our beautiful planet have inspired you to do what you can.

Happy Earth Day!

  2. Wow, it is appreciating Earth Day in great style! I can't choose the most beautiful or touching image. It's kind of funny that Earth Day is celebrated the same day Brazil was officially "found" by Portugal.
    Kisses!

  4. Page, your HAPPY EARTH DAY post is all at once sobering, scary, and hopeful! I'm pleased to say that we of Team Bartilucci HQ are already using many of the helpful Earth-friendly suggestions you proposed. (Surely the suggestion to shower with a buddy should garner enthusiasm :-)) We've only got one Earth, so we'd be foolish to take it for granted. Thanks for your amazing post, my friend!

  7. Please, please excuse this misplaced post! I just stumbled upon your blog and was intrigued by your October 2012 comment "I'm glad you enjoyed this and as I mentioned to Brian below I do enjoy this topic and I can't wait to get started on the next one. (Might be the John Barrymore, King Vidor estate" You probably won't believe this, but I've been trying to find information and good photos of the Vidor/Barrymore/Bella Vista estate for years! So....this is just a polite request that you do an item on it because you seem to do such good work~ even if you don't, I'll be back to enjoy all your posts-- very nice sit!

I watched an old Harold Lloyd silent the other night........then I had to Google him and came upon your fabulous website. It is awesome and I am equally transfixed with the silents through the 40's - such style.
Your sight in now bookmarked on my homepage and will be visited often.
    Thanks,
