Classic Film: Six Degrees of Separation ROUND ONE continued

Well okay! Things are already back to me during round one and Dawn of Noir and Chick Flicks chose
Kirk Douglas and Gena Rowlands in Lonely Are The Brave (1962) to which I will say

Gena Rowlands and Rock Hudson in The Spiral Road (1962)
The next name out of the hat is Priscilla of Reel Revival so take it away Priscilla! (In case you missed my first post, the initial stars to connect by six degrees were Mabel Normand and Walter Matthau.)

*Yes, I accidentally on purpose looped back so we could end the first round at six degrees. I should have known our members were too clever. : )

  1. Page I hate to tell you and Dawn but you guys have got there. Walter was the Sheriff in Lonely are The Brave. FYI

  2. Paul,
We know! Dawn could have connected to Walter during her turn but I think she was allowing the game to go further. : ) We were trying to land on exactly six degrees but Becky and then Dawn are too clever. Was hoping nobody noticed. Sure it looks like we have gone off the rails! Ha Ha

  4. NO No Paul, don't go! Just laughing at the fact that these smart butts got Mabel and Walter in just 3 degrees! Hope you know I was kidding with you. Waiting on the OU game to start here.

I knew people would see that last film and think "Wow, these girls sure don't know their Matthau films" lol

  7. I'm next...

It is a pleasure to participate in the Six Degrees of Separation game started by Page over at My Love of Old Hollywood. I'll just recap the game so far. Page gave us two stars, Mabel Norman and Walter Matthau, and passed the torch on to Dave of Dave's Classic Films.

He pointed out that Mabel Norman was in Head Over Heels (1922) with Adolphe Menjou. Then Becky of ClassicBecky's Brain Food gave us Adolphe Menjou in Paths of Glory (1957) with Kirk Douglas. Next up to bat was Dawn of Noir and Chick Flicks. She chose Kirk Douglas, in Lonely are the Brave (1962), with Gena Rowlands. Then the game looped back to Page, who threw in Gena Rowlands and Rock Hudson in The Spiral Road (1962)

That leaves us at four degrees, and I have been chosen to present the fifth. Naturally, I wanted to link Rock Hudson to the best star ever, Doris Day. But, needing to make the game possible to complete on the next and final degree, I chose Rock Hudson and Burl Ives, also in The Spiral Road (1962).

I'm booting the sixth degree over to Vincent at Carole & Co. Wrap it up for us, Vince!

...and a bit confused. Do I link Burl Ives to someone or choose two new stars? Please let me know. (I'm a bit late responding to this, if only because I worked today.)

  8. Hi Vincent,
Yes you'll choose a different film starring Burl Ives and either another actor to get closer to Matthau or if you can directly to Walter Matthau.

Can't wait to see what ya come up with and if you do connect to Walter then you'll choose two new actors to start round two and the person you want to carry it forward
    Thanks

  9. Burl Ives and Walter Matthau were in "Ensign Pulver" (1964)!

Now, two actors of my own -- Carole Lombard (surprise!) and Goldie Hawn. Next up, Ivan G. Shreve at Thrilling Days Of Yesteryear.

  11. I admit it -- I have a weakness for attractive blondes with good legs who can make me laugh! :)

  12. Vincent, Ha Ha! I've noticed!
I kind of expected Carole Lombard and Lucille Ball as your duo after your last post but with Goldie the round should have 'longer legs' *wink

    Sent you two emails

  14. Vincent,
Guessing you'll post round two and the end of round one at your blog! You need proper credit for ending round one and starting round two in case anyone isn't reading my blog comments!
    Thanks

  15. May I suggest that as site sponsor, you host an entry here listing all the participants and their url? It would make things easier when selecting the next person.

  16. Vincent,
People will add logos and remove them as we go along if they want to participate. This way everyone participating will visit others blogs to see if they have a logo while playing! : )

Hopefully that wont be a problem and I'll keep track of who's playing if someone can't find a logo.
    Thanks,

  19. I learned of this game through Dawn, and I'd love to play along. May I do that? Just tell me how to join in.

And to Paul 2...I, too, am a Boise State fan (I live there). That TCU game was a total killer, wasn't it?

    Thanks,
    Patti

  20. Hi Patti!
We've actually talked about expanding the Six Degrees game after we gave it a trial run (see if it took off) so I will keep you posted on the details once we have info and how to keep everyone informed on who's playing.
    So glad you're interested!
And thanks for stopping by and following.

  21. I just finished my post: http://ishootthepictures.com/2011/12/01/a-game-of-six-degress-of-separation/

I have passed the game onto Monty at ALL GOOD THINGS.

  22. Page, I hope I've done this right, because as I said to Monty when he tagged me, in addition to being "...Easily Distracted," I also tend to be Easily Confused! :-)

I believe I've gotten it in one move: Goldie Hawn to Gert Frobe in "$" (a.k.a. DOLLARS). Am I right?

So does this mean I get to pick the next two stars with Six Degrees? In that case, I challenge the next in line to connect Myrna Loy to Danny Kaye! *WHEE!* :-) If there's a step I forgot, let me know ASAP, won't you? Thanks for bearing with me! :-)

  23. Oh, and Page, if I have to pick the next Six Degrees participant to take a turn, can I tag Becky? If not, please refresh my memory on how this works; details have never been my strong suit when it comes to games! :-)

  24. Hi Dorian,
If you connected someone to Goldie then yes, you choose the next two stars and who goes next (whistlinggypsy and caftanwoman are the two left who haven't gone yet)
You'll do a post about your solving round two then your new picks and who's moving it forward.
I emailed the person I chose as a courtesy.
I need to go see how you solved round two. : ) Congrats!
