I am old enough to remember the Automat's when I lived in NYC. As a kid they were fun, depositing nickels into the slot and bam, there's the food ! Edward Arnold, one of the great character actors is also a delight. As others have mentioned, the automat sequence is one that once seen will never be forgotten. A great choice for the blogathon, a movie too often neglected because of all the classic screwball comedies that came out about the same time.R. D. I agree with you that Milland had a real feeling for comedy, and he wasn’t afraid to make himself look like a fool.

Your captions are inspired, as always, and the screen shot of Milland’s bum is hilarious, but I just want to relish a few of my favorite lines: “He let's her know that he doesn't want to work twenty years just to end up standing behind a nut salad. Well, good news! You worked 3 hours and ended up beside a nut salad.” “These kids really should get married and go back and finish fifth grade!” “Ditzy D.: ‘Does this tulle make me look stupid?’ R. R. Jr.: ‘Only the last five yards of it!’”

I actually love this scene, with Jean and Ray lying side-by-side and her peeking through the sheer material.
